Rimini.
Picked because it was the most tropical of the destinations that RyanAir flew to from East Midlands Airport, but appreciated for its amazing hostels and laid back attitude...I met up with Brandon, who had been adventuring across Malta, Sicily, and Cinqe Terra (completely misspelled, see his blog for a better recounting of his tales), and seemed to have some interesting encounters- all much more dramatic than my Pescara hotel scare....
We spent our time on the cheap, cooking in the hostel kitchen and spending most of our time on the beach or wandering the city-
The city itself was pretty nondescript, and we covered it during an afternoon walk- from big Roman arches to a few pieces of rubble left from an ancient ampitheatre, the city was not a tourist destination in the historical sense. Our walk back from the city to our hostel passed roughly 50 four star hotels, but our free internet, free breakfast, 200m from the beach accomodations were amazing at 13 euro a night-At this point in travels, It felt good to relax, but the anticipation of returning home to Notts was building- Four weeks is a long time to be away from an adopted home, and the attraction of free meals and comfortable beds was too much to handle at times-
Just some of the recent additions to my growing bottle collection....After a few days in Rimini, enjoying sun and reflective travel conversation, we headed 'home' for the last few weeks of Nottingham...
Possibly the best view in aviation... flying from the East Coast of Italy, over the Alps, over the English Channel (not all that picturesque), back across the East Midlands of England..
Home sweet Homefield Road.
